Children's Ministry Assistant

Marian joined our staff as Assistant Director of Children's Ministry in January 2007. Before accepting this position she had worked as a teacher to the four year olds in the Kid's N Christ preschool. She has been a member of our congregation since 1996.

She and her husband Steven were married in 1996. They have two daughters and one son. Her hobbies include; singing, music, reading, crafts and hanging out with her family. Marian's desire is to continue to do God's will in raising her children and serving the children of our community.

Marti joined our staff as Ministry Assistant/Office Manager in October 2007.

She and her husband Darrell have been married since 1978. They have two grown daughters. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, playing board games and outdoor activities.

Gerri Avalos

Ministry Assistant/ Financial Assistant

Gerri joined our staff in June 1997. Her current position is Ministry Assistant/ Financial Assistant, she is also responsible for our weekly bulletin.

Gerri has been married to her husband, Juan, since 1991. She has three grown daughters and four grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, crocheting and taking long walks with her dogs. She looks forward to someday retiring and enjoying all of God's creations with her family.

Jason joined our staff as Assistant Worship Arts Director in April 2008. He grew up here in Las Cruces and spent most of his youth in a Christian music group. He is a recent graduate of NMSU and a certified EMT.

Jason and his wife Emily were married in 2006. His hobbies include; landscaping, four-wheeling, playing guitar and spending time with his wife. His future goals are to serve the Lord Jesus Christ with his whole heart and soul and use the gifts and talents that He has blessed him with.

Kristen joined our staff as Worship Arts Ministry Assistant in April 2008. Prior to CBC she worked at First Baptist church in Las Cruces as a Youth Intern and Associate Youth Minister. She then took a position as Associate Youth Director with First Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Family & Consumer Sciences.

She and her husband Parquer have been married since 2005. They have two dogs, Ella and LeRoy. Kristen likes: hanging out with her husband, dogs, riding her bike, Pizza!, high heels and making people smile. Her passion is helping teenagers experience God in a real & life changing way.

Jessica joined our staff as Ministry Assistant/Receptionist in February 2005. At the beginning of 2008, her position changed to Ministry Assistant/Web Master and she is now responsible for our church web site. Before coming to CBC she was a network administrator for a large local bank.

She has three daughters and one son. Her personal time is often spent driving to and from games or practices; a true "soccer-mom", but in her spare time she enjoys reading, sudoku puzzles, walking/jogging, scrabble,trying to learn to play guitar and just spending time with her family.

Mark Miller

Christian Counselor

Mark is a licensed clinical counselor with the State of New Mexico since 2001. He graduated from New Mexico State University in 1995 with a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling and Guidance. He has also completed a diploma in Christian Ministries from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.

He has experience working with couples in transition, couples in conflict, preparing couples for marriage, and substance abuse & addictions.

Simon joined our staff as Youth Intern in August 2005. He was born in Detroit but moved to Las Cruces at around age 7, where he completed high school and is currently enrolled at NMSU seeking a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Simon's hobbies include working on cars/motorcycles, playing electric bass and running. His future goals are to continue mission work, travel and continue working with youth.
